Heat wave

It's just the beginning of summer and the heat is already unbearable. We question the thermometer all the time. It may say 70 but we know it's more lik 90. We had a 8ish tee time today and finished around 10ish. I underestimated the sun and did not have any sun block on. Geez...

Talkativeness

This past few days, our daughter just would not shut up! We just sat back and watched her go on and on with her soft toys. No, sugar was not involved in this. She just went on with her conversations that only she could understand. At one point, she was screaming at Elmo and you have to wonder what Elmo did to p******d her off? :-)

Mid-40s

Played twice this week and shot mid-40s. I was pretty happy. :-)

Proud mommie

Daughter and I made some more wontons today. This time she helped by peeling each wonton wrapper for me. She also helped mixed up the meat ingredients. :-)

Fried wontons

Made some fried wontons the other day for hubby's pot luck lunch. Really simple recipe and great h'ordeauves. Unfortunately, when it was served, it was a bit soft. Fortunately for daughter and me, we have leftovers. Daughter loved it so much, she ate 3! We were very proud since our daughter is a very picky eater and practically lives on dairy products and candy.

Recipe: ground pork, scallions, shrimp, sesame oil, salt, white pepper and wonton skins (from Oriental food stores).
Cooking instructions" mix all wet and dry ingredients. put a little on the wonton skin and fold in half (for faster cooking). Heat up some oil and fry. Enjoy...

Going back to school

Yes, planning to go back to school for an MBA. Think I missed the Fall deadline - crap! I was just reviewing some GMAT prep questions on Math and man, I have some studying to do. Math used to be my strongest subject but when I reviewed the simple trigs, my mind went mushed!

Dancing with the Stars

Pretty interesting show. Hollywood celebrities paired up with professional ballroom dancers compete every week performing different ballroom dances. One of the crowd favorites is John and Charlotte (pronounced Charlotta). John is the funny comedian on the Golf channel and on the Senior PGA tour. These stars have 5 weeks of intensive training with their partners and it's amazing to see them put on a show. John mentioned that he has already lost 13 pounds! Ballroom dancing is back. Could this be an inspiration from "Shall We Dance?"

Disney plots

Ever notice a trend with all Disney movies - someone or something always dies....
Bambi - mom shot by hunter
Tarzan - parents killed by leopard, then killed by Tarzan
Nemo - mom killed by barracuda
Pochahontas - Koko-um killed by John Smith
Lion King - father killed by brother in stampede

What are they trying to teach our kids???

Bambi

It's Disney's 50th anniversary and the Disney channel is showing all the old animation. I recorded Bambi and daughter is absolutely glued to the tV! Did you know this was created in 1942? Pretty impressive.

Sleepy weekend

Spent the weekend at a friends' parents' lake house. Never slept so much in my life. Daughter loves it to playing in the shallow sandy banks. The waters were unusually warm. Every year we went, it's been raining and cold but not this year. Think I am coming down with a cold now...

AC woes

AC problems - not much cold air. Temp in house is the same as temp outdoors! Ceiling fan helps but not circulating the air thru the house. Remedy = lots of ice cold water. :-)

Yummy salad

Boston creamy lettuce, crumbled bacon, mangoes/mandarin oranges, lots of cracked ground pepper and raspberry vinagrette. Top that off with some sunflower seeds or nuts - YUMMILICIOUS!

Saturdays at Meijer

The best time to go to Meijer's is on Saturday morning. They usually have the Saturday big sale. Today, we got Vitamin D milk for $1.66 / gal (normally $2.99). My favorite salad in a bag with Boston creamy lettuce is $2/bag (normally $2.99). Mangoes, strawberries, melons were all on sale. Picked up a LOTR III for $15 and Notting Hill for $10. Top top that off, we did not have to stay in line to pay. Take a guess....yup, hubby was not there to witness this miracle.

50 first dates

Not an Adam Saunders fan but this is a really good show. Drew Barrymore was excellent too! Highly recommended.

Empire Falls

HBO's new miniseries - worthed watching if you are in to those social fabric dramas. Ed Harris is an excellent actor. Helen Hunt is in it too. 3.5 hrs long - great way to get daughter to turn in for the night. Hehehehe.

Daughter's friends

One of the best feelings to the end of my day is picking up my daughter from the daycare. I'll enter the room and hear this scream "Daddy". Yes, I am called "Daddy" as well. I am "Mommie" when I have candy. My daughter has been in the same daycare since she was 10 weeks old. She has 2 other friends that I have watched grew up. They all recognized me and lately I have learned to bond with them. A little hi fives here and there and byes when we leave as my daughter impatiently waits at the door ready to leave. Today, all of them tried to feed me their snacks except my daughter. She stuffed her mouth with her fish crackers when she saw me. Just plain adorable....

45

Had a great round at league last night - had 4 pars! That's the best feeling next to sinking a 30ft putt for birdie. I had ups and downs but kept my composure, had fun and FOR ONCE took my golf game seriously. My short game was ON. I probably had 10-12 putts.

Funny thing is we played the ghost team and the game turned out to be a miniature trash talking competition between me and my partner. It was hilarious. I had a blast. Final score - I won. :-) Funnier thing is I beat hubby as well (score wise). He is 20x better than me and just had a very rough day. Nothing could ruin my day after that round of golf. I realized my potential - that's what it's all about - recognizing your ability and believing yourself.
