In-laws are here

The house is full now with family in town. What's even more amazing is how fast we cleaned up the house in 5 hrs! It did not take long for our daughter to warm up to her grandparents.

Mom had jet lag and was up at 3:30am! I was up as well and got caught up to all the going-ons at home. 2 hrs later, dad woke up. 30 min later, daughter woke up and then the whole house is awake. Life is good...sleepless but good.

No golf - week #2

Ok, I know we need the rain but come on... I need to debut my new driver. :-)

Golf partner luck...

Just found out that my golf league partner cannot play the 2nd half due to classes. We are both bummed because we actually have a decent chance to compete for the cup. We were placed 3rd in the 1st half. We have a "healthy" kinda sick competitiveness among us that just thrives us to beat each other. Yes, we actually psyched each other out to be better. My partner does not want to lose to a "girl" and I just want to be better at my game. I'm sorry for those playing with us (if you are reading this, it's not personal). Not sure how it started but it's working! Will have to see who I get "slotted" with now.

Whyyyyyyyyy meeeeeeeeeeeee?????

Furnitureless

We helped my sis-in-law moved today. When we got to her rented home, we realized she did not have any furniture. I looked at hubby and said, why not give her our living room furniture? Generous, you think? Actually, the furniture did not cost us anything as it came with the house. The previous owners left them with the house hoping they would raise the value of the house. To our advantage, this was our 1st home and we did not have much of any furniture nor much extra money after our wedding. We've been talking about replacing them and finally had a great opportunity. Looking at my bare living room, this would be a good time to call Modernistic and steam clean the carpets before the in-laws arrive. I always believe everything happens for a reason but this is too freaky. Now...we have to do some shopping. You should see hubby's face :-).

Hearts

Vowed not to work this weekend, I found a new game installed on all our computers - MS Hearts. Pretty tricky game. Of the many times I played it, I only won twice.

New generation of fruit

Ever noticed all the cute fruit at the grocery store? Bought a mini melon cantaloupe - supposedly very sweet. Last year, I had a "x-melon" (kinda like X-Men) which was very sweet but can't remember its name and never saw it. We also saw the mini watermelons which is supposed to be seedless. Then we saw a documentary on the Food channel a couple of days ago and there's this company which sole purpose is to make vegetable taste "better" (sweeter, less bitter, etc.). They use technics like cross pollenation or breeds to create this new type of vegetable and fruit. Interesting...

Troy

Watched Troy on HBO today. I like it. I'm a sucker for Greek mythology. Brad Pitt was just a bonus - he played Archilles well. Loved the fight scene with Hector (Eric Bana? yet another hottie). The angular up in the air sword jab was impressive - shows strength and skill. Unfortunately, the story is a far off from what the myth of the Trojan war. Nonetheless, very entertaining and for the first time, I'll admit, BP is pretty hot!

200+

... number of clothing we donated to Goodwill today - it's a personal milestone to get rid of 10 yrs of clutter. It's very uplifting.
