Corinne Bailey Rae

Pretty soulful and refreshing voice. Heard it on Studio 60 last night - "trouble sleeping" and "like a star".

Thanksgiving 2006

We had better turkey meals than this one....used an oven bag which "worked like a charm..." as some whom recommended us as a "must try" - NOT. Now, we have to make up this mistake and make another one so we can erase this one from all the great thanksgivings....

What's worth remembering...having family around, last thanksgiving in our current home, how Kohl's can extend a cashier's line ALL around the shop, the extent people go to for that xx% discount. On that note, the sales weren't that great. I actually got something nice from a store with no crowds and no sales and no red tags either.

What's not worth trying...oven bag, having company over when you are in the middle of a move and shopping on day after thanksgiving day.

Milestones

DD's potty trained :-)

Got my new Dell D620 - pretty sweeet machine. Not too crazy with the wide 1280 screen, makes the screen look smaller. Kinda interesting. Finally have built-in wireless and actually use the wireless network at home.

Cupcakes

We made our first cupcakes today. Never took to baking but this is actually fun. Don't need the calories but seeing DD's reaction is priceless. All it took was a box of mix, eggs, water, oil and 20 mins. Baked to perfection, wait to cool and smack on some yummy buttercream icing. Don't forget the sprinkles and stars. DD ate one. Well, technically, she ate 2 halves since she only liked the frosting. A must try for all 1st time moms.

Sweet curry - yuck!

Went to Noodles today. Had the Thai curry soup - loved the noodles and shrimp but hated everything else about it. In my mind, curry is a flavorful and savory dish. NOT SWEET! The cook must have mistaken the sugar bowl for salt. I was second guessing my mind too. I read about this a long time ago. Once you have experienced something, the mind has a memory of how the dish tasted and you walk in with a perception of the taste even though it could be a completely new creation. Anyway, my mind was either playing tricks with me or it was a very sweet curry. I walked out dissatisfied with a headache to go along it. Ouch. Oh, and to make it worse, it was not a cheap meal either. What do I do? Had make-it-your-own, cheap and reliable Japanese "savory" noodles for dinner.

Redemption in the Lake House

It's Sat night and there is NOTHING to watch. It's too cold to go out and do something. I'm so thankful I have a warm house to stay in. Ok, so we rented "Lake House" starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. Some actors just look good together and they are my present day Tom and Meg. What an interesting movie. Pretty far fetched with the time period but romantic nonetheless. And the house - WOW! Highly recommend it.

What the ,,, ?

Watched J. Aniston breakup yesterday - OMG - what is that? The movie is about 2 people arguing, getting even and making each other mad for the breakup. And the ending shows them smiling???? It's not even netflixable.....
