Amsterdam

I was in Amsterdam last week. Spent a day there wandering the streets and did not get very far. Rain and lack of time had a lot to do with it. I went to all the hot spots hubby and Tom mentioned - sex museum, canal ride, walking tour thru red light district (VOC cafe). Very interesting. I had a tough time with the simplest things like buying a ticket but eventually got through it. Dutch food is bland and not very appetizing. I found a Malaysian restaurant there and had nasi lemak. The rice and sambal were good but not the curry. I was also very guarded since I was alone. The streets were dark as I headed back to Centraal to take a train home to Schipol but had a sense of accomplishment. On my last day in the Netherlands, I rushed back to Amsterdam hoping to visit the Van Gogh museum. Unfortunately, I did not get very far. I was stuck in the 5pm rush hour and all the trams to the museum were jammed and after the advisement of a local, I decided to give up my hope. This is what you get when you don't wear a watch and lost track of time. Maybe next time...
